UGC extends deadline for varsity accreditation

Last Updated 03 February 2015, 20:41 IST

Extending the deadline for higher educational institutions to get accreditation, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked them to apply for the same before the end of this year.

In a letter to vice chancellors and heads of institutions, the UGC has warned that it would withdraw financial assistance should they disobey its directive to get their courses and programmes accredited by December 31.

According to UGC regulations, all higher educational institutions except medical colleges operating for six years or have produced two batches of students through their academic programmes should apply for accreditation six months from the date of notification of rules and procedures.
