London dreams and some fish 'n' chips

Last Updated 04 February 2015, 15:36 IST

The London street food festival brings all the essence of London as a city. Be it graffiti walls to classic Fish ‘n’ Chips – the beautiful elements of the British capital are very much there in the resto-lounge.

London Kitchen Co which is hosting the festival offers the elements of London City including London’s iconic phone booth, graffiti streaked walls, exposed bricks, wooden flooring, and British cuisine. The interiors are done in shades of red and grey and as the name suggests, imitate a ‘Brit atmosphere’.

The menu for the festival comprises more than 21 dishes, including starters, main course and desserts.

Tangy Black Beauty mocktail is a must try. The infusion of orange juice and black current gives a tangy flavour to the drink. Add to it soda and a dash of lemon and loads of crushed ice, and a refreshing mocktail is ready.

The most interesting among the starters is Cajun Popcorn Shrimp which dissolve in the mouth leaving the taste buds craving for more. The most popular item is the authentic British ‘fish n chips’.

The dish is a hot favourite in London and South East England. In England it became popular after Charles Dickens mentioned a ‘Fried Fish warehouse’ in Oliver Twist in the middle of the 19th century.

Also, the Special London Bhel will tickle your taste buds. For your sweet tooth the place offers Double Decker Brownie–which reminds one of a double decker bus on the streets of London. This is a must have for the sweet lovers.

An array of mocktails and dishes like Midsummer Dream Mocktail, Chicken Asparagus Roll, Chicken Fajitas, Mushroom and Walnut Cherry Mozzarella Salad, Chicken Caprese Tikka, London Kitchen Sole Dices, Fish Taco and Boozy Chilly Wings were also a big hit with foodies.

The food festival is about celebrating everything that’s strikingly reminiscent of British culture and cuisine – from a hearty spread of the London street food to playing live music, the place offers it all.

Chef Harish Thukran from the restaurant says, “This gastronomic festival will provide a treat for all palates as London is a foodie’s heaven. A food lover can join us on a satisfying gastronomic journey.”The festival is on till February 13 at London Kitchen Co, Rajouri Garden.
