Last Updated 04 February 2015, 19:58 IST

Soon, water consumers will be able to get information on the timings of supply in their locality and consumption details at the click of a mouse.

BWSSB is coming up with a cloud-based website, which will provide all details on entering property details.

Anjum Parvez, chairman of BWSSB, said, “For the purpose, Malleswaram has been mapped as per the Revenue Register numbers. We are going to call tenders shortly for mapping the entire City. By April 2015, BWSSB will have an upgraded, cloud-based website,” he said. He was speaking on the sidelines of the annual water conference organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry here on Wednesday.

To create awareness among the public regarding ways to conserve water, BWSSB will launch a special character on radio called ‘Panchayati Puttappa’ this month.

Parvez said that awareness about water conservation and its management, rainwater harvesting in every household is very important. “By the last week of this month, we are planning to launch Panchayati Puttappa and we hope he will be able to take the message to every household, Parvez said.

The officer said that soon the city is going to get seven new Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), which also include the existing ones that will be upgraded to a larger capacity. Two of these STPs will be set up at Hebbal and Vrishabhavathi. He said that the existing treatment plant at Hebbal would be upgraded. In the next three years, the plant will produce enough bio-gas to run at least 100 BMTC buses.

Also, BWSSB is mulling over adopting Singapore’s model of blending fresh water with treated tertiary water to cater to the ever-growing needs of the City. He said BWSSB is also making efforts to minimise the losses in distribution.
