The woman in her statement to the police said that she was being mentally harassed by some members of the Karnataka Network for Positive (KNP+), including Saroja, its president.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, she  said she was asked to give a statement that she had taken an overdose of ART (antiretroviral therapy) medicines instead of sleeping tablets. “They said a case would be filed against me if didn’t do so,” she added.

The woman, who is the joint secretary and board member of the organisation, said she was not aware about many projects being handled by KNP+.

Meanwhile, Saroja maintained that every district in-charge had certain goals to achieve and she being the district network officer of Davangere had not met her target. “As per the decision of the board and contract signed by her, we sent her a letter stating that she will be removed from her post,” she said.

She added that she had a huge responsibility in handling the organisation and may have failed to respond to her calls.  “A board meeting will be convened to settle the issue,” Saroja said.
