Goyal takes over as Home Secy

Senior IAS officer L C Goyal on Thursday took over as the new Home Secretary, succeeding disgraced Anil Goswami who was removed from the post following his attempts to prevent the arrest of Saradha scam-accused Matang Sinh.

Assuming charge after meeting Home Minister Rajnath Singh, the 1979-batch Kerala-cadre IPS officer said he would strive for making improvements in areas “wherever required and appropriate” within the given timelines.

“I feel humbled by this huge responsibility. I will fulfil this responsibility with utmost sincerity, commitment, diligence and with a profound sense of accountability. To be able to do so, I solicit active support and cooperation of all stakeholders,” he said.
