'I wasn't cut out to be an actor'

In all his projects, Sharan has always managed to arouse a lot of curiosity among people. In his latest release, ‘Raja Rajendra’, Sharan is dressed in the most outrageously coloured clothes but it's not repulsive and certainly leaves you wanting to know more about the character.

He says that it is the character that made him sign the dotted line. The best part about the role is that it has been captured in two different eras. “One character is set in the pre-Independence while the other has me essaying a person from the modern era. I am nicknamed ‘Bottle Mani’ in the movie and he soon discovers that there’s another person who shares the same nickname. This is the twist in the tale,” explains Sharan.

The actor found both characters challenging and unique. He says that it is his strong background in theatre that has helped him get this far. “Acting was not my cup of tea, and I still think that I was not cut out to be an actor. But I got the right opportunities and a lot of things fell in line. I couldn’t say no to the kind of roles that were coming my way,” says Sharan.

Sharan confesses that the different looks are not to grab extra attention or create unnecessary hype. “Each look has a strong point and conveys something substantial. There are precisely two shades to the character and it was taxing to play each one to perfection.

But I’ve enjoyed discovering the many sides of my personality. Interestingly, there are so many twists and turns in the movie and the suspense isn’t revealed till the end,” he shares.
Sharan feels this movie is special in a lot of ways.

“To start with, the subject is unique and perfectly suits the present-day situation. The narration is humourous and offers plenty of light moments but the movie conveys a strong message,” he sums up.
