The police have arrested in Rajasthan a 59-year-old man who was reportedly running a training centre in Mumbai for small gangs and their members indulging in criminal activities.

Yusuf Mohammad, alias Munna Sarkar, would charge gangs 20 per cent earning from every heist or any other criminal activity.

“We have arrested Yusuf Mohammad alias Munna Sarkar. He is linked to several high-profile robberies in the state over the past few months. He has been running a training school in Mumbai for local criminals,” said DCP, Jaipur (North), Praful Kumar.

According to the police, Munna would accompany his “students” on their ventures, but would never go to crime spots. He used to stay in a hotel, and them students before and after the crime.

After getting his share, he would either leave to assist other gangs or take everyone along to another city to undertake similar task.

Initial investigation revealed that Munna was linked to more than 100 heists in the state, including those in high-profile jewellery showrooms in Jaipur.

“His specialisation was training young gang-members in conducting robberies. He would teach them everything, including how to escape the police. Initial probe has revealed his hand in more than 100 cases in the state,” said Kumar.

The police said, Munna had been staying in Rajasthan since November 2014. He came to Jaipur with 10 other criminals—all his “students”—and stayed in a hotel opposite the Sindhi Camp bus stand. The others stayed in four different hotels, and submitted identification details at the hotel reception.
