Naveen wins third gold for Karnataka

 Naveen John Thomas fetched Karnataka’s third gold medal of the 35th National Games, emerging triumphant in the 36-km individual time trial in the cycling event.

Naveen clocked 50 minutes 08.047 seconds to finish on top in a field of eight cyclists.The 28-year-old left behind Arvind Panwar of Maharashtra and Amit Jangara of Services in second and third positions. Arvind clocked 50:28.373 for the silver while Amit took the bronze in 50:44.648.

Rejani Vijayakumari of Kerala claimed the gold medal in the women’s 72-km mass start event. She clocked two hours 29 minutes 40.58 seconds. Rejani had to fight hard to ward off Seema Rani of Haryana, who was a close second in 2:29:40.622. Anjitha Subalithan T P of Kerala took the bronze, 2:29.40.645.
