Bengaluru Rural police on Sunday afternoon arrested Ambarish (20), a resident of Cholappanahalli on the charges of raping and murdering an eight-year-old girl at Pillagumpa Industrial Area near Hoskote.

Ambarish, is said to be a construction worker, was in Pillagumpa Industrial Area to visit a relative, when the incident took place. The accused was reportedly drunk and was loafing around the area when he allegedly lured a minor girl into a shed and then committed the crime.

The investigating officials found vital clues that lead to the arrest of the accused from a CCTV footage that was installed at a private firm near the crime scene.

In the footage, the victim is seen playing with an object which slipped off her hand and fell near a heap of stones. On the pretext of handing over the object, the suspect lured the victim into the shed and came out alone after eight minutes. The victim’s body was later found in a semi-nude condition.
