Swiss leaks: Top Indian business leaders, politicians feature in the list

The latest Swiss leaks has shown that the number of Indian clients of HSBC's Swiss-accounts have shot to 1195 from 628 since 2011. These accounts also hold a whopping balances  to the tune of Rs 25, 420 crore.

The Indian Express in collaboration with Washington-based International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) and the Paris-based Le Monde newspaper has manged to secure a list of names of Indian Swiss-account holders.

The list is mainly dominated by top corporate heads and politicians. Business tycoons Mukesh Ambani, Anil Ambanin and Anand Chand Burman among other named in the list of HSBC's Swiss-bank account holders, according to the report.

Former UPA minister Preneet Kaur, former Congress MP Annu Tandon, family members of the late Congress minister Vasant Sathe and Bal Thackeray’s daughter-in-law Smita Thackeray are among people with political connections and those hold Swiss-accounts.

Meanwhile, the Centre is expected to disclose the names of about 60 Indians who have accounts at HSBC bank's Geneva branch as it has begun the process of prosecuting them.

According to the sources, said the total amount in these accounts is estimated to be to the tune of Rs 1,500-1,600 crore.
