ICICI Bank open for partners for p-bank

ICICI Bank is open to partnerships and tie-ups for obtaining a payment bank licence according to the bank managing director and chief executive officer Chanda Kochhar.

“We are always open to looking at partnerships and tie-ups. Even while things evolve in that space, our new offering ‘Pockets’ offers the entire experience of payment banks,” Kochhar said when asked about who the bank would like to partner for a payment bank licence.

We have believed in partnering with as many people as possible to enhance our value propostion, Kochhar added. Meanwhile, the bank launched ICICI Bank launches 'Pockets', India's first digital bank on a mobile phone.

 It allows any individual (account holder or not) to download and instantly activate an e-wallet. The wallet uses a virtual VISA card which enables the users to transact on any website or mobile application in India. Customers can request for a physical card to use it at any retail outlet.

The wallet allows users to instantly send money to any e-mail id, mobile number, friends on Facebook and bank account. The users can pay bills, recharge mobiles, book movie tickets, order food, send physical and e-gifts, split and share expenses with friends by using this e-wallet.
