SpiceJet now offering tickets at Rs 599 for three days

Last Updated 11 February 2015, 19:01 IST

SpiceJet launched its fourth sale in less than two weeks offering tickets that are “cheaper than train fares” for three days beginning Wednesday.

Customers, however, faced problems with the website crashing during the day due to overload.

The airline, which is on its recovery path following a regime change, is offering 1 lakh tickets for Rs 599 all-inclusive for travel between July 1 and October 24. Another 3 lakh tickets are also on discounted rate. “We have got a huge response for our sale and hence we are experiencing heavy traffic on our website. Bookings are still continuing. A message comes if too many people try to log on at the same time and the queue is full. Customers who are already logged on are processed normally,” a SpiceJet spokesperson told Deccan Herald.

“Seats are limited and offer is available on first-come-first-serve basis,” the airline stated.
Under this offer, tickets on routes like Hyderabad to Vijayawada, Delhi to Dehradun, Guwahati to Kolkata, Ahmedabad to Mumbai, and Bengaluru to Hyderabad are priced at Rs 599 only.

The offer is also available for international flights (except Colombo, Kabul and Dubai-Ahmedabad-Dubai sectors), at fares starting at just Rs 3,499 all inclusive.

“Fares for this offer are lower than AC train fares on many routes, and cheaper than non-AC sleeper class trains on several routes. And this time we are including most of our international flights in this offer too,” said Kaneswaran Avili, chief commercial officer of SpiceJet.

Sanjiv Kapoor, chief operating officer of SpiceJet, said flying empty seats, which is the ultimate perishable commodity, is a “crime”.

“The best way to fill seats that would otherwise go empty is to sell them well in advance at highly attractive rates, often lower than train fares, to those who are willing to plan and book early in exchange for fantastic deals,” he said.
