JOIN USH K Manjunath, a farmer from Kollenahalli, staged a lone protest against the negligence of the Cesc authorities, in Hirisave, Hassan district, on Sunday.
Manjunath told Deccan Herald, the transformer at Kollenahalli had stopped functioning 15 days ago. Since then, the village plunges into dark after sunset. As there is no power, drinking water is not available. When it was brought to the notice of the officials concerned, a new transformer was installed a couple of days ago, but power connection has not been restored. Leopards are spotted in the region and are a cause for fear among the farmers. Hence, he has resorted to a lone protest, Manjunath said.
Upon receiving information, Cesc official Lakshmaiah visited the office and assured to set right the technical problems, after which Manjunath withdrew the protest.
The villagers said, three transformers have gone defunct in the past one month as the demand for power is more. They urged the officials concerned to make an alternative arrangement.
