A 16-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself at her sister’s house in Basavanagar on Wednesday.
The jurisdictional HAL police have identified the girl as Ruma Patra, a native of West Bengal. She had come to the City a couple of months ago and was staying with her elder sister Huma and brother-in-law. The couple, who are into catering business, had asked Ruma to come and stay with them to take care of their one-year-old daughter.
On Wednesday afternoon, Huma shouted at Ruma for talking on mobile phone for a long time. They both had lunch and went to have a nap. While Huma fell asleep, Ruma went to the terrace and hanged herself from the clothesline. The incident came to light in the evening when Huma went in search of her sister, said the police.
