A balm for the soul

It was a soulful evening as the ‘Idea Jalsa — Music for the Soul’ brought together music maestros Selva Ganesh and Pete Lockett along with Niladri Kumar at Orion Mall recently.

A noted Indian percussionist in Carnatic music, Selva Ganesh is one of the leading Kanjira player in the country. Son of Grammy winner Vikku Vinayakram, he has been a successful music composer.

Sharing the dias with him was Pete Lockett, an English percussionist who has worked with varied music cultures around the globe, including, Indian, Western and Arabic.

They gripped the City with their mind-blowing performances. ‘Idea Jalsa...’ is back with a new season, offering a wide variety of Indian music featuring 150 artistes who will be performing for 20 different genres on Indian music.

 Durga Jasraj, founder and director of Art and Artistes said, “This is a journey which goes beyond the proverbial ‘Dream Come True’, it’s a blessing. It is truly a celebration of music for the soul. We are sincerely grateful to audiences across the world, our performing artistes for this.”

The chief operating officer, Karnataka, M Siva Ganapathi, who was all praises for the event said, “This is one platform which brings together legends, maestros, stars, and rising stars from the Indian music fraternity, to present a rich and diverse showcase of Indian culture for all music enthusiasts across the country and champion Hindustani classical music.”
