Four names recommended for the post of DG&IGP

A high-powered committee headed by Home Minister K J George has recommended names of four senior IPS officers to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to appoint one of them as the next Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP).

Speaking to reporters, George said, “Based on the Supreme Court directions that a high-level committee be formed for selecting names to top bureaucratic posts, the committee met to finalise a list of names to the post of DG&IGP. These four names were selected based on seniority and merit. Overall, there are 12 parameters which have to be considered before recommending the names. The chief minister will take the final decision.”

The members of the committee included George as the chairman, Law Minister T B Jayachandra, Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee and DPAR principal secretary E V Ramana Reddy. The committee has officially recommended the names of Rupak Kumar Dutta, Bipin Gopalakrishna, Sushant Mahapatra and Om Prakash. The new DG&IGP will be selected by the chief minister to replace Lalrokhuma Pachuau.A farewell parade was organised in his honour at the KSRP Grounds in the City on Friday.
