JNC student among 3 held for tiff with police

Three persons, including a student of Jyothi Nivas College for Women (JNC), who obstructed the night patrolling police from discharging their duties under the influence of alcohol, were arrested by the Cubbon Park police on Saturday night.

Jordan, 26, from Darjeeling, Sumanth, 21, from Chhattisgarh and Tenzin D, 21, were booked under IPC Section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharging his duties) and were arrested. They were remanded in judicial custody, said the police.

Sumanth came to Brigade Road with Tenzin around 11.30 pm. They consumed liquor at a club and came out. The duo picked a quarrel with Jordan on the road. On receiving the information about a tiff, the night patrolling police arrived at the spot.

When the police intervened, Tenzin objected to it and obstructed the police from discharging their duties. Jordan and Sumanth also objected to the intervention by the police. Tenzin is a student of Jyothi Nivas College, while Jordan works with a private firm. Sumanth said he was working with the Indian army.
