There is some good news for hundreds of passengers at the Bengaluru City railway station, as the South Western Railways (SWR) is all set to add more escalators and lifts for the convenience of the passengers. Also, the Yeshwantpur railway station will get similar facilities soon.

The funds for providing these facilities were sanctioned in last year’s budget.  However, there was some delay in selection of contractors, SWR officials said. SWR Divisional Railway Manager Sanjiv Agarwal said that the work would begin at both the stations soon.

On an average, both the stations combined together handle close to about two lakh passengers per day. As many as 67 pair of trains operate from City station and 44 pairs from Yeshwantpur station, every day.

Presently, there are two sets of escalators and six lifts at City Station while Yeshwantpur station has no such facility.
