Now, ministers compete to visit KPCC office

Ministers in the Siddaramaiah government appear to be vying with each other to visit the State Congress office on the Queen’s Road in Bengaluru, of late.

Four ministers, H S Mahadev Prasad, Umashree, Ramalinga Reddy and K J George, visited the KPCC office on Thursday, and three others – D K Shivakumar, Kimmane Ratnakar and P T Parameshwara Naik – have already booked their slots for their visit on Friday. And the ministers are making it a point to sign the visitors’ book during their visit.

According to the party sources, AICC general secretary incharge of Karnataka Digvijaya Singh has recently written to all the ministers, directing them to visit the party office and interact with the workers at least once a month. Singh has stated in the letter that the party president, Sonia Gandhi, has asked him to take action against the ministers who refuse to visit the party office.

The sources said KPCC president G Parameshwara had lodged a complaint to Singh in this regard, and had furnished a photocopy of the visitors’ book as a proof of ministers not visiting the party office. Singh had later brought the issue to the notice of Sonia, who had directed to take action without hesitation, the sources said.

Though the intention is to provide an opportunity to the party workers to interact with the ministers, not many party workers come to take part in interaction.
