A 36-year-old construction worker was found hanging from a tree on the Jindal Naturecare Institute campus at Madanayakanahalli on Tumakuru Road on Thursday.

Police gave his name as Ravi, a native of Chikkamagaluru who is said to have come to Bengaluru to visit his relative, Shivanna, at Chikkabidarakallu about a  week ago. Shivanna, a bar bender, was working at the institute on a contract. Ravi was said to have been depressed.

“On Wednesday, he accompanied Shivanna to Jindal. We suspect he hanged himself from a tree on the campus on Wednesday evening. The incident came to light on Thursday morning when some workers went to the spot,” a senior police officer said.

The workers then called the police. When police questioned Shivanna, he told them he had thought Ravi had gone home and hence he kept quiet. He said he got to know about the incident only after the police informed him, the officer added.

Incidentally, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is on a visit to the institute. The officer said the suicide was not related to the visit. Ravi killed himself over personal problems. A case has been registered at the Madanayakanahalli police station,” he added.
