'I was enthusiastic to shoot for 'Ricky'

While things in the Telugu film industry are going really well for Haripriya, she has now started working in a couple of projects in Sandalwood as well.

She has completed the shooting for ‘Ranathanthra’ which is a love-cum-thriller film.
Haripriya says, “I’ve never worked on a subject like this before and I really enjoyed working on the character. It’s quite different from what I’ve done before.”

The film has largely been shot in Bengaluru and portrays the influence of the IT culture on young people. “Youngsters working in IT companies seem to have forgotten their culture and roots. They are prone to aping the West. We shot in the nights and looking at how the film has turned out, I think those sleepless nights were worth it,” feels Haripriya.

In another Kannada project, that is yet to be titled, Haripriya plays a girl who works for a software company. “The story is about the good and bad sides of the IT world. It’s a suspense-cum-thriller and the mystery is not solved till the end. That’s what a good movie must do — it should keep viewers entertained throughout,” she adds.

Haripriya says that although her character in ‘Ricky’ appears to be a simple one, it changes colour and gets complicated towards the end.

“The suspense is not revealed until the end of the film. My character has two shades in the movie. I play the role of a Naxalite which I found extremely challenging because I haven’t attempted something like this before,” she says.

Haripriya also states that the shooting for ‘Ricky’ became all the more interesting with Rakshith Shetty’s simple and effective narration of the script.

“I was enthusiastic to shoot for ‘Ricky’ at six in the morning and the same interest would remain even at 10 at night. The script was thoroughly engaging,” she adds.  In another film titled ‘Bullet Basiya’, Haripriya plays the character of a girl from the town of Mandya.

Haripriya will also be seen in a cameo opposite Sumanth Shailendra in yet another project.
“I am not allowed to divulge the details but my character is instrumental in changing the course of the script,” she says.

She thinks all her projects in Kannada have given her a lot of scope for performance. She also clarifies that she was supposed to work in another project called ‘Fly’. But she has opted out of it due to the unavailability of dates.
