A police inspector attached to the chief minister’s security was shunted out on Tuesday following charges of cheating and misbehaving with a woman from Uttar Pradesh. Samiullah Khan is accused of having a physical relationship with the woman after promising to marry her.

Bengaluru City Police Commissioner M N Reddi, who received an oral complaint from the victim, immediately acted against the inspector and shifted him.

“I decided to move Samiullah Khan out of his current posting after I received an oral complaint from a woman. There were a few specific charges made by her against the inspector. Considering these charges, I acted against him,” Reddi told Deccan Herald.

The commissioner said the woman met him and narrated how the inspector cheated her. “I clarified that I can’t act merely based on an oral complaint and suggested to her to lodge a written complaint to facilitate him to initiate further action,” the commissioner said.
Reddi told her he would get the complaint probed by a senior police officer and act accordingly.

“I told her that Joint Commissioner of Police (CAR) D Roopa would be asked to conduct an inquiry and submit a report. We will take suitable action based on the recommendations,” Reddi said.

Property-related disputes
The woman had some property-related disputes in the City and met the chief minister two years ago seeking his assistance and Khan was present at that time. He promised to help her and befriended her. He also had a physical relationship with her, said police sources.

Khan is married with children. However, he told her he was unmarried and that he would marry her. When the woman asked him recently about their marriage, he started avoiding her and her phone calls. She grew suspicious and decided to lodge a complaint against Khan, the sources added.
