Ramp demolition: SRK asked to pay fine by March 12

The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai has asked Shah Rukh Khan to pay a fine of Rs 1.93 lakh for the demolition of the illegal ramp outside his famous bungalow 'Mannat', in suburban Bandra by March 12.

BJP MP Poonam Mahajan had sought removal of the ramp, following complaints by residents of the seafront area. Mahajan, the local MP, had written to MCGM commissioner Sitaram Kunte on January 29 asking him to demolish the structure as residents complained about "chaos and traffic build-up" which it caused.

Kunte was quoted in Times of India saying, "We had to use heavy machinery to demolish the ramp as it was an RCC structure. Hence, the notice has been given to recover the demolition cost. The actor has to pay the fine within seven days, else we will have to recover the same through other means, like his property tax."

A notice was also sent to Khan about the matter on March 5.
