2 killed in Maruti van, KSRTC  bus collision

Two persons were killed on the spot, after a Maruti van they were travelling in collided head on with a KSRTC bus near Rayankere on Mysuru-Manandavadi road, here, on Wednesday.

Five persons were injured in the incident, and they have been admitted to K R Hospital for treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Sikander Ahmed (30) and his friend Parvez Mohammed (28), son of Abdul Gafur of Dodda Katur village, Mysuru taluk.

The mishap occurred when Ahmed, along with his family members that included his parents Fakir Ahmed and Fathima, wife Saira Bhanu, 20 years, and his four-year-old son Yasin, and brother Siddiqui Ahmed, was returning to the village, after taking his ailing parents to a hospital in the city.

The bus (route number 227) coming towards Mysuru from Hullahalli, rammed into the van resulting in their deaths, around 12.50 pm. The Ahmed couple have been admitted at ICU, while the three others are undergoing treatment at the same hospital.

South police said that Ahmed who was a professional driver, had borrowed the van of Parvez who was also killed on the spot. Ahmed was at wheels at the time of the mishap.

Soon after the mishap, the bus driver identified as Senthil Kumar abandoned the vehicle, before fleeing from the spot.

South police have booked the case against both the KSRTC bus driver and Ahmed for rash and negligent driving.
