Father held for sexually abusing girl

11-yr-old raped for three months, wife visits cops

A man had allegedly been raping his 11-year-old daughter for the last three months in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar. The victim who was threatened into silence all this while revealed everything to her mother on Tuesday night.

The 35-year-old man was arrested after his wife approached local police on Wednesday. A police officer said the medical examination of the girl indicated she was being raped.
The accused works as a small-time tailor who sets up his shop by a footpath in Malviya Nagar.

His family consists of his wife, three daughters and a son.

The victim was the oldest of the children and studied in class 6 in a government school nearby.

“The accused had been raping the girl for the last three months. He used those opportunities when his wife was out of home for any work. The girl would resist the rape, but he would threaten to harm her and her mother if she revealed the abuse to anyone,” the officer told Deccan Herald.

The girl had been appearing very scared ever since the alleged abuse by her father began, said police.

Her mother had asked her several times the reason behind her change in behavior, but she had refused to speak.

“The girl was alone with her mother for a few hours on Tuesday night. She broke down and revealed everything to her as she had been feeling pain in her private parts,” said the officer.

The mother kept the incident to herself through the night and did not directly confront her husband.

She took her daughter to the police station in the morning and lodged a complaint.
The father, who was unaware that police had been approached, was arrested at his home.

Police said an initial probe does not indicate that he had raped any of his other daughter.
