Enraged over his live-in partner returning home late, a man here strangled to death their five-year-old daughter at his residence here, police said.

Vipul Mehta (39) was arrested on charges of murdering Piya, his biological daughter from his live-in partner Nagma Shaikh (24), at their residence in Sai Kripa Society at Poonam Nagar area in suburban Andheri in the wee hours today.

According to police, Vipul and Nagma, who is a bartender by profession, had arguments on several occasions as she returned home late, leaving behind only him to take care of their daughter. He had even warned her to come home early.
