Lone MLA attends KDP meeting

Except K R Pet MLA K C Narayanagowda, all the other legislators absent themselves from the KDP meeting presided over by Housing and District in-charge Minister Ambareesh, in Mandya, on Thursday.

Majority of the chairs in the meeting hall were vacant, making the absence of the legislators all the more obvious. Narayanagowda, the lone MLA levelled allegations of rampant sand mining in the district and discussed problems related to his constituency, during the meeting.

Sand mafia
MLA K C Narayanagowda alleged that the former K R Pet MLA’s son was involved in sand mafia in the taluk. The Police department which was aware of his anti-social works, had turned a blind eye towards the issue, he alleged.

Following this, Ambareesh directed SP Bushan Borase to take neccessary action against those involved in sand mining.

Standing Committee President K S Viajayananda and vice president Chandrakala Nanjundachar stressed that the Minister transfer D Devaraj Urs Development Corporation district manager B J Muthanna for his irregular attendance to the office, and for not responding to the problems.

Expedite works
Ambareesh also directed the officials to expedite the ongoing works and complete it within a month’s time. Legislator K C Narayanagowda alleged that funds were issued through MPLAD for the purchase of a hi-tech ambulance and that the District Health Officer was not producing the statement of accounts. Only Rs seven lakh has been utilised for the purchase, he said.

Replying to the same, DHO Manchegowda said that tenders had been invited for the technicians to assemble the equipment inside the ambulance, and that he would provide the statement soon.

Executive Engineer Chinnaiah, replying to a query on water problems said that measures had been taken to tackle the issue.

Food and Civil Supplies Director Kumuda was directed to make new appointments as there was shortage of staff at the PDS centres in Mandya taluk, Malavalli, Srirangapatna and others.

ZP President Lalitha Prakash, vice president Chandrakala Nanjundachar, deputy commissioner Ajay Nagabushan, SP Bushan Borase, District incharge Secretary Sanjeev Kumar were present.
