'I have to portray extreme emotions'

Meghana has never had it so good. All her current projects in Kannada have given her immense scope for performance and each one is different and unique in its own way. She says the contrast is striking and that's what she has liked best about the projects.

Meghana has completed the shoot for ‘Vamshodaraka’ opposite Vijay Raghavendra where she plays the role of a social worker. “I essay the role of an educated woman who also happens to be a teacher. She works towards changing a lot of things in a tiny village that has everything in plenty except well-informed and educated people. She sets out to make a difference,” explains Meghana.

Vijay Raghavendra’s character in the movie has also been designed on the same lines. “Vijay comes to the same village on a similar mission hoping to make a difference. He starts to change a lot of things amidst opposition. The story is about the change the two of us bring about in the village,” says Meghana.

She will soon start shooting for ‘Allama’ which traces the life of a mystic saint called Allama Prabhu whose life changes after Mayadevi’s entry. Meghana plays the character of Mayadevi. “My character is a very stubborn and dominating one. I have to portray extreme emotions of both arrogance and grace in equal measure and this is going to be quite an exhausting affair,” she states.

The shooting for ‘Allama’ took time to start because the cast was put through a series of workshops to understand the character and the context in which it is being shot. “The workshops gave me a better understanding of the character. They will add to the performance,” she adds. Meghana has almost completed shooting for ‘Aatagara’ which is directed by KM Chaitanya.

“It’s a multi-starrer and I play a supermodel. It’s not just the storyline that is unique. Every character is the story has a definite purpose and is strong in its own way,” she adds. Although this project has a serious tone, says Meghana, it is presented in an intelligent way.
