Juvenile held for girl's murder

In a swift investigation, the city police claim to have cracked the murder case of a minor girl who was found murdered at Channagirikoppal in Ashokapuram police limits on Thursday. A juvenile, accused in another crime, has been arrested in this regard on Friday.

The nine-year-old girl had gone missing after going to the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple along with her sister to collect ‘prasada’ on Wednesday night. While her sister returned home, causing anxiety among her parents, who are daily wagers.

Police sources said that a 16-year-old boy who was previously arrested in a different case earlier, was found to be involved in this case, during the course of investigation. He confessed to the crime eventually.

Body burnt
The girl was smothered to death, when she protested the accused’s bid to outrage her modesty.

Fearing further consequences, the boy after doing the girl to death, tried to dispose her body by burning it with petrol. The girl’s identity was established with the help of her anklet and also scar on the lower part of her leg.
