A 35-year-old woman from Kazakhstan has alleged gang-rape by three men at a hotel in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh on Thursday. The accused were arrested on Friday, police said.

The woman came to India on a tourist visa, but claimed to be running a garment business.

In her statement, she told police that one of the culprits, a travel agent, is her friend and helped her financially when she first came to India two years ago. Culprits Vikas Yadav, Ashish and Amit are aged between 35 and 40.

“The victim has been staying at a hotel in Karol Bagh. Late on Thursday, she went to another hotel, where she met her travel agent friend Vikas,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Parmaditya.

Vikas’ friends Ashish and Amit also arrived at the hotel lounge, where they consumed alcohol.

The woman alleged that they later went to a room in the hotel, where she was allegedly gang-raped.

She underwent treatment at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for minor injuries and approached Karol Bagh police station on Friday morning.

Police also informed Kazakhstan embassy before her statement was recorded.
“Officials from Kazakhstan embassy went to the police station to help police in the probe,” another police officer added.

A medical examination of the woman has confirmed sexual assault.

Vikas was the first to be arrested, while Ashish and Amit were nabbed at his instance.
Police also said the woman regularly came to Delhi and stayed at the same hotel where she was currently staying.

A case of gang-rape under Indian Penal Code has been filed, but police are also probing into the allegations made by the men.

On interrogation, the three men claimed that the woman was involved in flesh trade.
“While the woman alleged that she was gang-raped, the culprits in their counter allegation claimed that the victim filed the complaint following a dispute over money,” the officer said.
