2 women die in rly accident

According to railway sources, Nagarathna (28), her husband Balaraj (32), mother-in-law Lingamma (58) and their child had reached Bangalore East at 6.40 am by the Kacheguda Express from Kacheguda in Andhra Pradesh. They had come to the City to visit Nagaratna's father-in-law employed at IOC at Devanagudi, near Whitefield.

Wrong side

Instead of disembarking on the platform side, the group got down on the wrong side, so that they could easily cross over to the other platform.  The group planned to take a passenger train from there to Whitefield.

The Bangalore-Ernakulam Intercity Express was approaching on the track, which they failed to notice.  Honking by the driver alerted Balaraj who jumped from the track with his child in hand. However, Nagaratna and Lingamma were run over, sources said.
