Two held for double murder of criminals in Bindapur

The murder of two criminals in west Delhi’s Bindapur on Wednesday night has been solved with the arrest of two of their former associates.

A monetary dispute has been cited as the reason behind the double murders.
Bijender and Ashu, both 35 years old, were found shot dead at the terrace of their former associate Shiva Suri.

Police had recovered several live and empty cartridges from the spot. Suri, 22, was found absconding since the incident.

He and his associate Gabbar, 27, were arrested from Rohini on Saturday following a tip-off, said police on Sunday.

Police learnt during interrogation of the two suspects that Suri and Bijender were co-accused in two criminal cases of Delhi.

In one incident, they had robbed a man of his car and cash at gunpoint in Safdarjung Enclave in 2012.

A few months after that incident, they had fired upon a businessman in a road rage incident.

Both were arrested for the latter crime and sent behind bars. Suri was lucky to have received bail in October 2013 whereas Bijender emerged from prison only two months ago.

“Upon being released, Bijender learnt that Suri had been carrying out extortions and property dealings by using Bijender’s name. Bijender wanted Suri to give him a share of the money earned in his name. Suri paid him Rs 2.5 lakh, but the demands kept growing,” said police. Suri then decided to do away with Bijender once and for all.

He invited Bijender at his home on the night of March 11 on the pretext of hosting them for dinner and settling the dispute amicably.

Meanwhile, Suri had called over three of his associates to take care of Bijender and his associate Ashu once they arrived.

“A discussion between the two groups soon turned into a heated argument upon which several rounds were fired at Bijender and Ashu as planned earlier. Both died at the spot,” said police.

Police are yet to arrest the two other persons involved in the double murder. All the four persons are wanted for several criminal cases amongst them.
