Himachal Pradesh launches forestation schemes

Schemes 'Sanjha Van-Sanjivani Van', Apna Van-Apna Dhan' and 'Pipal-Bargad Plantation' are being implemented by the government, the forest department said in a release here today.

"The state government has been putting concerted and conscious efforts in the last two years to protect forest wealth and environment," the release said. Of the total 55,673 sq km geographical area of the state, 37,033 sq kms is classified as forests. 'Van Sarovar' programme launched under NREGA aims at constructing  200 water harvesting structures.
