The Karnataka High Court on Thursday directed the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to complete repair of stormwater drains in DJ Halli and Muneshwara wards, in a month.
RTI activist P Udayashankar and others had filed a PIL seeking directions to remove encroachment on stormwater drains in DJ Halli.
During the hearing on Thursday, the BBMP sought 90 days’ time to complete the job.
However, a division bench headed by Chief Justice D H Waghela granted a month to the civic agency.
Notice ordered
The High Court has ordered issue of notice to the State government, Department of Labour and BBMP in a petition seeking remuneration to sanitation workers as per the Payment of Minimum Wages Act, 1948.
Justice Ashok B Hinchigeri directed the State government and the petitioner to submit details of the present pay structure of the sanitation workers.
