A division bench of the High Court, comprising Chief Justice P D Dinakaran and Justice V J Sabhahit, directed the State Legal Services Authority to take action against the poor state of government hospitals, by appointing senior district and taluk judges for the purpose.

The  bench has also  asked the judges to submit a comprehensive report on the state of hospitals in their respective districts, within two weeks. The order has come after the bench heard a petition by several senior doctors in the State, who had complained about the lack of basic amenities in several hospitals in the state.

Site allocation

A division bench comprising Chief Justice P D Dinakaran and Justice V G Sabhahit has asked the State government to submit a report on whether the allocation of the G category sites (CM’s discretionary quota), has been to the rightful individuals.

A PIL filed by T C Nagaraj alleged that the Government had allotted the sites to MLAs, MPs, ministers, and former MLAs and MPs in violation of the norms. Nagaraj had alleged that the sites were allotted to 59 BJP leaders and seven Congress leaders.

Based on the information he obtained through an RTI application, he also alleged that of the 696 sites allotted under the category in the period between 2000 to 2008, almost all were allotted to party leaders and only 33 individuals from other categories were allotted the sites.
