Youth adept at conning electronics dealers, held

A youth, who had conned electronics dealers and had made away with 23 LED TV sets worth Rs 10 lakh, has been arrested by N R Police, recently.

The accused, identified as Imam Rabbani Hussain alias I R Hussain, had allegedly cheated electronics dealers, along with his accomplices Sheikh Rukman and Salman, who are currently at large.

Hussain, who used to pose as the manager of a reputed hospital would place bulk orders for TV sets.

He used to bring five to six TV sets to a hospital and shift them in a meticulous manner to his car. The showroom executive was asked to wait outside the hospital to collect the money towards the purchased items, while Hussain was fleeing with his car. Deploying similar modus operandi, he had stolen 23 TV sets and had sold seven of them online.

Following a complaint, the police succeeded in tracing Hussain in the city.

A native of Bengaluru, Hussain was wanted in similar cases in the capital. He had later shifted his activities to Mysuru.

He also claimed to be a journalist and had an ID card. The ID card, issued by Karnataka Patrakartara Parishat, Bengaluru, in the name of ‘Prajajagathu’ identifies Hussain as a reporter and photographer. However, the police are yet to verify the card’s veracity.
As many as 15 TV sets, two laptops and a car have been recovered from him, according to the police.
