Last Updated 26 March 2015, 19:01 IST

The High Court, on Wednesday, disposed off the petition which questioned the delay in constructing a bridge across Puthila River near Belthangadi Village in Dakshina Kannada district after the State government submitted that they would take up the work and complete it by May 2016.

The petitioner had contended the government had allotted funds to construct the bridge which would help the villagers of Belthangadi to cross in 10 minutes.  The villagers had to travel 12 kms by road and had sought for the construction of the bridge.  The petitioner had contended that the funds allocated for the construction of bridge was diverted elsewhere. A division bench comprising Justice KL Manjunath and Justice Raghavendra S Chauhan disposed off the petition after government submitted that tenders have been floated for Rs one crore and work has been awarded and the work would be completed by May 2016.
