People’s Union For Civil Liberties (PUCL) Dakshina Kannada District Unit has urged the authorities concerned to probe into the alleged involvement of advocates in cases connected to the alleged forgery of signature and seal of Principal Civil Judge and issuing a fake divorce decree to Everest Pereira, husband of Carmeline Pereira.

Briefing reporters, PUCL District President David D’Souza said the complaint by Sherastedar of Principal Civil Judge and JMFC Court at Bundur police station, clearly states that action should be taken against the person who forged the signature of the judge and produced the forged decree.

Meanwhile, D’Souza alleged that Gladys Almeida, who claimed that she is the wife of Everest Pereira, has fake marriage certificates. At present, Gladys is in prison on charges of fake divorce decree, he said.

David D’Souza also claimed that Everest Pereira’s death was not accidental, but a murder.
