A retired Indian Army Brigadier and his wife allegedly locked the staff of an NGO in their office for an hour. Police have registered an FIR against the elederly couple.

But the two say they are being framed in a false case because they had asked the NGO to vacate the space they had rented out at their home in south Delhi's Defence Colony.
The couple allege pressure on  police by a Secretary-level IAS officer and a businessman linked to the NGO.

The NGO runs from the basement of a building owned by retired brigadier J B Sharma in  Defence Colony A-Block.

Ullhas Foundation’s President Shelly Joshi told police that her  NGO was installing an inverter in the office on Wednesday.

“As soon as the electrician came, Sharma’s wife Neelam started screaming and threatening us. My colleagues were then locked inside the office along with the electrician,” Joshi told Deccan Herald.

It is alleged that the Sharma family sat outside the main door for over an hour and did not allow them to leave. A pregnant woman was also in the office.

Soon, Joshi reached there, but she was not allowed to enter the office. She was also allegedly abused and threatened by the retireed army officer.

The incident was captured on CCTV cameras.
Based on Joshi’s statement, Sharma faces charges under sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.

Sharma, however, told Deccan Herald that he was being framed as he had served a notice to terminate the lease deed with Ullhas Foundation.

“As per the notice, the NGO has to vacate the premises by March 31. They are playing dirty politics to drag the matter,” Sharma said.

Sharma and his wife had also approached Delhi Commission for Women for help in December 2014. Sharma, is a member of Defence Colony Welfare Association.
Ullhas Foundation is involved in skill development training for rural youth, health and hygiene awareness and child welfare programmes.
