Four injured in group clash

Triggered over alleged foreign trip with fake passport

The clash followed an allegation that a person with a criminal case had travelled abroad with a fake passport.

In the clash Sujathamma (40) and Narayanswamy (48) were seriously injured. They were first treated at the Government Hospital and later shifted to Nimhans in Bangalore for further treatment. The other two both named Muniraju were being treated at the Government Hospital.

Background

Recently the village’s Venkatesh (38) had gone on a sponsored trip by the State to China as a sericulturist. There were several criminal cases filed against him and his application for passport had been rejected by the local police. In the light of this BJP leader Sujatamma and others had alleged that he had travelled to China on a fake passport. This has resulted in the clash.

The accused Doddakempanna has been arrested and further investigations are on, said Rural Police SI Suresh.
