The City police have made massive security arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several of his cabinet colleagues and a host of high-profile personalities, who will be in the City for three days between April 2 and April 4 to attend the BJP national executive meeting and a public rally.

Hotel Lalit Ashok, the venue of the national executive meeting, and the National College grounds in Basavanagudi, the venue of the public rally, will virtually turn into fortresses on all the three days. Former deputy prime minister L K Advani, BJP president Amit Shah, over 10 union ministers and about 300 VIPs from across the country will make it to the national executive meeting and public rally.

“We have made elaborate security arrangements,” Bengaluru City police commissioner M N Reddi told reporters on Monday.

Modi is staying at Hotel Lalit Ashok. A public rally has been organised at the National College grounds on April 3. Foolproof security will be in place to thwart any untoward incident. As many as 1,500 policemen would be deployed for security, Reddi said.

All senior police officers recently met and discussed security-related issues. The top brass supervised the arrangements and expressed satisfaction.

The police have decided to utilise the services of about 1,500 policemen of neighbouring states. The City police have discussed the matter with DG&IGP Omprakash, Reddi said.

“Two platoons of Rapid Action Force, 40 platoons of KSRP, 30 platoons of City Armed Reserve and 500 men from the Central Industrial Security Force will be deployed. Escort and pilot services would be provided to all those attending the national executive meeting,” the Commissioner said.
