'Agricultural land shrinking in B'lore rural'

Number of people depending on agriculturehas been coming down, due to non-availability of water. The district has a total 1,12, 625 hectares agricultural land. Of this, only 29,275 hectares is irrigated, he told reporters. Bachegowda, who is also in-charge Minister for Bangalore rural, said the Government has decided to go ahead implementing a project to supply water to dry land areas of the State using Netravati river. The CM has already given the green signal. A meeting with officials has been convened on June 11 to decide on commencement of the project, he added.
