JOIN USPolice are investigating a complaint that three men on a motorcycle robbed a person of Rs 14.50 lakh in cash near Omkar Nagar in Hulimavu on Tuesday when he was going to deposit the money in a bank.
Rajashekar, a resident of Srinagar, said the incident took place when he was going to deposit the money in a bank at Richmond Circle. He works for a firm which had tasked him with collecting cash from other firms and depositing it in bank.
According to Rajashekar, around 11.45 am on Tuesday, he collected Rs nine lakh from a firm in JP Nagar and Rs 5.5 lakh from another firm on Bannerghatta Road. Thus, he had a total cash of Rs 14.50 lakh in a bag. He left for Richmond Circle to deposit the money in a bank.
But just as he reached Omkar Nagar in Hulimavu, three men on a bike rear-ended him. Rajashekar fell to the ground and the bag fell down too. One of the men quickly got off the bike, snatched the bag from Rajashekar and the trio ran away, according to the complaint.
Rajashekar said he raised an alarm but by the time passersby could react, the robbers had disappeared. Rajashekar then went to the Hulimavu police station and made a complaint. Police say they have some vital clues about the incident and will arrest the suspects soon.
