JOIN USA 23-year-old man from West Bengal has been arrested on the charge of attempting to sexually assault an eight-year-old girl.
Deepak Kumar, who works as a housekeeper at a resort at Geddanahalli, is said to have attempted to sexually assault the girl by undressing her in a eucalyptus grove.
According to police, the girl’s parents are daily wage labourers. She was playing outside her home in Tabarahalli on Monday when Kumar approached her and told her he would take her to meet her father who was working at a construction site nearby. The girl went with Kumar to a eucalyptus grove where he reportedly started removing her clothes.
But some people happened to notice him and raised an alarm. Kumar, police said, saw them and tried to escape but was chased down. He was later handed over to the police. The girl’s parents have made a complaint to the police. Kumar, who had come down to Bengaluru just a month ago, has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. He has been remanded in judicial custody.
