<p>Five people were killed on the spot in a head-on collision between a Maruti Swift car and a vegetable-laden goods vehicle on National Highway-206 at Konanakavalu near Biligere in the taluk on Tuesday night.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The deceased have been identified as Jayanna (36), Umesh (43), and Mahalingappa, all residents of Gudigondinahalli in the taluk; and Renukaiah (43), and Niranjanmurthy (55), both natives of Timlapur.<br /><br />All the five victims were occupants of the car.The driver of the goods vehicle and another man, who suffered injuries, were rushed to the taluk government hospital in the town.<br />The accident occurred when the victims were returning home after attending the wedding reception of a relative of Jayanna.<br /><br /></p>
