Action on Maoist activities after inputs, says new SP

Newly appointed Superintendent  of Police Santhosh Babu has said the future action plan to contain Maoist activities will be prepared after consulting senior officials from ANF and inputs from intelligence wing. 

Briefing reporters, after taking charge on Monday, he said measures will be taken on community policing.

All police phone numbers will be made available to the public. To stay in touch with the general public, the department is planning to launch a mobile app. The technology will be used in maintaining law and order in the district. 

To a query on increase in chain snatching cases in Chikkamagaluru, the Superintendent  of Police said that the situation was worse in Mangaluru. All efforts will be made to check crime activities in the district. 

SC/ST grievance meet

He said every second Saturday, Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe grievances meeting will be held. Any grievances and complaints can be brought to my notice. 

“Chikkamagaluru is new to me. I have visited Mullayyanagiri as a tourist in the past. I will try to understand the district first and later discuss with the officials on the law and order situation.” 

He clarified that he will act tough against those indulge in gambling and illegal sale of liquor.
