<p>Management is embodiment of good mind, thought, action, result and reward, said Scientist and Indian Institute of Scientific Heritage Honourary Director N Gopalakrishnan. <br /><br /></p>.<p>He was delivering a talk on ‘Vedic management principals in modern India’, organised by Citizen’s Council Mangaluru Chapter, at Sanghanikethan in Mangaluru on Monday.<br /><br />He further said experiences of past people, given by mythological stories, are the management lesson for us today. 18 Puranas and 18 Upapuranas convey managerial skills through stories of rulers. Ramayana and Mahabharatha are the great treasures of such knowledge. For instance, messages given by Bhishma to Dharmaraja on how to rule a country, are relevant to this day. <br /><br />Also, Bhagavadgeeta suggests that duty, responsibility and privilege put together, is equivalent to righteousness or Dharma. The values preached by Lord Srikrishna to Arjuna 15,150 years ago, still find relevance. According to the Lord, one has to elevate oneself, family, society and the Nation and should never degrade others. Applying this to our lives, we can draw the reference that at our workplaces, one should not only develop oneself, but also one’s coworkers and eventually the entire organisation, he said.<br /><br />“We should not be our own enemies and should never subject oneself to anger and other emotions which destroy our thinking abilities. To have a stabilised mind is very essential during sorrow or excitement, he added. N Gopalakrishnan said in Ramayana, ‘Lakshmanopadesham’ and ‘Bharathopadesham’, preachings by Lord Rama to his brothers Lakhsmana and Bharatha, on the ruling of the country, are not very familiar in India, but are taught in foreign countries.
