CHEERING CHINA

The varied sounds of music

ENJOYING: Jaryl and Dominique.

Thanks to the Bonjour India Festival of France, an eclectic crowd of Bangaloreans, expats, music lovers and people just passing through the City were treated to a spectacular concert featuring an extremely talented group of jazz artistes from France.
The undulating lawns of a city hotel came alive with the sound of music as people settled down for the much anticipated China Moses concert. Jarl and Steve, a couple from San Fransisco were on their way to Pondicherry via Bangalore.

“We arrived early this morning and our French hostess Dominique brought us to this delightful evening,” they smile.

Jaryl could barely contain her enjoyment through the concert.

She kept time to the beat, cheered China on and practically danced in her chair all through the show keeping the other guests around her amused with her infectious enthusiasm.

The interaction level between the audience and the performers was very high. The appreciative crowd who came there with great expectations were not disappointed.
China with her strappy high-heeled diamante shoes and Tina Turner like energetic presence was accompanied by Raphael Lemonnier, with his obvious French charm and magic fingers on the piano. She was also well supported by Fabien Marcoz on the cello with his brilliant solos and the Jean Pierre Eroauard, the drummer with his quirky expressions and amazing talent.

“China is not just a very talented singer but an entertainer with a great sense of humour as well. I wish my children were here too as they would have enjoyed this performance,” said Shanti Peres who loved the high level of skilled professionalism exhibited by the whole group, while her companion Frances Rao added, “Let’s hope that Bonjour India becomes an annual affair so that our cultural calenders can be enhanced with programmes like these.”

Stanley and Yvonne Pinto were especially delighted to be there as they knew China’s mother Dee Dee Washington, another great performer. With finger foods and drinks doing the rounds and perfect balmy Bangalore evening under a star studded sky, it was indeed a magical setting for a jazz concert.

As China Moses said, “Chilling out in India with you people? How cool is that!”
