Software engineer says auto driver misbehaved with her

A software engineer has lodged a complaint against an auto driver accusing him of sexually assaulting her recently in Indiranagar. 

The woman, a resident of Konena Agrahara, had hired an auto on April 28 at 9 am to reach her friend’s home. She got down at a signal near KFC in Indiranagar and the driver demanded her to pay Rs 40 extra on meter. 

He picked up a quarrel with her on being refused to pay the extra amount. During the quarrel, auto driver’s hand touched her leg and the girl slapped him. 

In retaliation, the auto driver too slapped her. They continued to fight and  the driver fled as people started gathering, said the police.

The woman had clicked the picture of the auto rickshaw in her mobile phone and shared the registration number with the police.

“He started a fight without any provocation. He touched my body and behaved in an objectionable manner besides slapping me on my face. Hence, stern action should be taken against him,” the woman stated in the complaint.

“We are trying to trace the auto rickshaw driver. The auto was sold to four persons, said DCP (East) Satheesh Kumar.

Three held for assault

Kengeri police have arrested four persons in connection with assault and robbery of a tipper lorry driver and recovered three bikes and Rs 7,750 from them. 

K B Manjunath, 25, Yellapa, 24, Rajashekhar, 22 and Devaraj, 21, are the arrested. The prime suspect Chetan Kumar  is still at large. According the police, Chetan Kumar followed a tipper lorry loaded with gravel near Nice Road toll gate at 1 am on April 20. 

Chetan Kumar assaulted Lakshman and robbed him of Rs 40,000 and fled on his bike. The police arrested the suspects from Kengeri Satellite Town. Search is on to trace Chetan Kumar.

2 held for cricket betting

CCB police arrested two persons on Thursday for indulging in cricket betting and recovered Rs 1.50 lakh, a laptop, LED tv and eight cellphones from them. Mohan Kumar K, 38, and Raju, 34, are the arrested.

The police raided a room on the second floor of Prahlad Nilaya, in Nagarbhavi when an IPL T20 cricket match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders was being played in Kolkata. The police seized cash and electronic gadgets from them.
Security guard arrested

The JP Nagar police arrested a security guard over a molestation charge by a techie on Thursday. According to the police, the suspect is Praveen Kumar.

The victim, an employee of Oracle, in her complaint stated that she was on night shift on Thursday and the security guard tried to molest her soon after she entered the office campus.
