Call to streamline process of appointing VCs

Former vice-chancellors of various universities in the State have sought the State government to streamline the process of appointment of vice chancellors.

In a meeting of the Forum of Former VCs of Universities of Karnataka, here on Saturday, the former VCs opined that it was time for the government to come up with a uniform and scientific procedure to appoint vice chancellors.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, member of the Forum and former VC of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Balaveera Reddy said the Forum would compile the recommendations and submit it to the State government. The forum members observed that an objective selection process for vice chancellors would have to begin with an objective Search Committee.
